These are short walks of up to half a mile with no stiles or rough ground. Please contact the leader for the start point.
Guidelines for Short Walks Group 2024/25.
- Group members meet at 10.30 at the agreed meeting point. Please be prompt as we may not wait for late comers.
- Please inform the group leader if you have any health issues which might be relevant to participating in a walking group and which could need consideration when planning or carrying out the walks.
- The group will normally meet even in wet weather, however there may be times when a walk could be cancelled if the weather is unfit e.g. icy or snowy. If in doubt, please check with the leader.
- Walks are usually on paths, not over rough ground and not over stiles, and take about an hour. Sensible footwear and clothing are advisable.
- Whilst group leaders plan the walks with your safety in mind, it is advisable for group members to carry an emergency contact number with them and a mobile phone with the leader's number saved in case this should be required.
- U3A members are not covered by the Third Age Trust policy in respect of any personal accidents they may themselves suffer. However, some household policies may cover personal accident.
- Arrangements are made with local pubs/cafes for the group to park in their car parks, and for us to return there for our drinks.
- https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/the-countryside-code is the web address of the statutory guidance which we should follow during our walks.
